LEAD will be launching a Special Education workshop series on May 1, 2022! Our workshops are focused on specific skill development for diverse learners, developed ansupervised by our in-house Recreational Therapist, Ms. Alessia! The workshops are structured as an 8-week course offered in small groups.
Building Social & Life Skills: Students will learn emotional regulation, shared play with peers, team work and life skills. This course is created to promote independence and help children develop essential social skills. The course is designed for children ages 5 to 12 years, and offered in both English & French.
Emotional Regulation through Art: Students will be participating in an interactive art class using mediums such as paint, sculpting, mixed media and digital media. This course is created to teach students emotional regulation techniques, calm down strategies, spacial awareness while stimulating creativity. The course is designed for children ages 5 to 12 years, and offered in both English & French.
Learning through Play & Leisure: Students will discover and participate in different types of play, including: parallel, functional, imaginative, dramatic and more. This course is created to teach students functional play, through directive and non-directive techniques. The course is designed for children ages 3 to 11 years, and offered in both English & French.
Physical & Cognitive Development: Students will participate in various activities that focus on the development of their motor skills (fine and gross) and cognitive development. This course is created to focus on pre-writing skills, balance and reflexes, hand eye coordination and memory and concentration. The course is designed for children ages 3 to 11 years, and offered in both English & French.
